How do I setup a reseller in cPanel?
This article describes how a reseller account can be created through the cPanel Web Host Manger interface.
This procedure assumes you have already created the account in cPanel that will become a reseller (see
How do I create an account in cPanel?) and that your system is configured to use the default /whm redirect.
- Log into the web host manager with root as your user name and the associated password. The login page can be found by opening a web browser and going to (for example) http://server1.example.net/whm.
- Once logged in, go to Main >> Resellers >> Reseller Center.
- In the reseller section, select the cPanel user account that you want to give reseller permissions to from the drop down menu in the upper left corner under the heading Add Reseller Privileges, while leaving the check box next to Make the new reseller own their own account. Click the OK button to the right of the drop down menu. You have just created the reseller account; a confirmation will display.
To set or modify reseller account permissions, perform the following:
- In the Reseller Center section, select the cPanel reseller account that you want to modify permissions on from the drop down menu under the heading Select a Reseller. Once selected click the Edit Privileges/Nameservers icon on the on the far left just below that drop down menu.
- In the cPanel reseller preferences edit screen you are prompted with a variety of options for your account. Detailed explanation of each option is beyond the scope of this article though please pay close attention to the warnings outlined by certain options on this page.
- Once you have made the necessary changes on the edit page, click the save button located at the very bottom of this page. Once you have done this your resellers setting be changed. You may review the changes in access by login into your resellers account, which is done using the reseller account login and password.
