This article explains the reason behind getting "The operation is not allowed in the current state of the host" on vCenter, and how to resolve it

Symptoms

  • When customers upgrade something in the VMware environment, the host might be rebooted in the process.
  • VRA on the host might not be powered on after the host reboot.
  • vCenter might show a error when powering on the VRA: The operation is not allowed in the current state of the host

Root Cause

There could be two possible reasons for this issue:
  • The host is not properly registered to vCenter.
  • FIPS might be enabled on the host.

Solution

To resolve the issue you could perform one of the following solutions, depending on the root cause:
  • Unregister the host from vCenter and register the host again
  • Reboot Vcenter
  • Restart dịch vụ hostd và vpxa
/etc/init.d/hostd restart
/etc/init.d/vpxa restart
  • Disable FIPS: Go to Administrative Tools > Local Security Policy > Local Policies > Security Options > Disable the setting named System cryptography: Use FIPS compliant algorithms for encryption, hashing, and signing
